Depart
for Niah National Park for a 2
hours drive from Miri. Upon arrival at the Park Headquarters,
preregister and cross the Niah River by a small boat.
Then follow the 3.5 KM plank walk (45 minutes) to the entrance
of the Niah Caves. Tours of the cave will take you through
the Great Cave, Trader Cave, Gangkira Cave and Painted Cave.

Catch a sight of the 40,000 years prehistoric Neolitic settlement that left behind some of their belongings back then. Boat-shaped coffins and wall-paintings are among the exhibit you may encounter. Adding to these astonishments, the glimpse of millions of birds' nests hanging down from the colossal ceiling is simply overwhelming.
After the cave tour, you will have your lunch at local restaurant.
On the way back, stop by an Iban Longhouse.

The communal living of these hospitable people is amazing
taking into consideration that the Ibans were the famed Headhunters
in the olden days.
